Most of the IC’s that have been recently released
to the market have hundreds of pins, so it takes quite a long
time (several hours, or the whole day) to create the symbol
of this IC. In addition, the checking of pin names, pin numbers,
and pin types in a datasheet and key-in needs to be done manually,
so human error can occur. This is a simple, yet tiring task.
MagicSymbol has dramatically reduced these problems. MagicSymbol
is a tool that automatically creates circuit symbols for Mentor
Design Architect. Once the pin information is copied from a
datasheet in PDF format, or a text file and IBIS file is imported,
a pin table is made. By clicking a button after the pin table
is confirmed, a circuit symbol and a map file are automatically
created, by use of standardized symbol template. The symbol
of IC, which has a lot of pins, can be created within 10 seconds.
